Asking for a review feels awkward the first time. The good news is that most satisfied customers are willing to leave one, as long as you ask at the right moment and in the right way.

Presenzai does this on your profile every day, without you having to log in.

Why it can sound desperate

Almost always because of the timing or the tone: asking right after taking payment, pushing several times, or making it conditional on a discount. None of those three is about asking badly — it is about asking in the wrong context.

How to ask well

  • Ask at the highest point of satisfaction: right after solving something well, not at any random moment.
  • Be specific: "could you help us with a review of your experience today?" rather than a generic request.
  • Hand over the direct link, so the person does not have to search for your business on Google.
  • Ask once per customer. Pushing lowers goodwill, it does not raise it.

Channels that work

In person, right at the end of the visit, works better than any automated message. A QR code on the counter or a physical plaque reduces the friction to one tap of a phone. A WhatsApp message or email after the purchase also works, as long as it includes the direct link.

What you must never do

Offering a discount or a gift in exchange for a review goes against Google's policies and can end with legitimate reviews being removed alongside the incentivised ones. It is not worth the risk.

If the customer says yes but never leaves it

That is normal. Not everyone follows through in the moment. A gentle reminder, once, a few days later, is acceptable; more than that starts to feel like pressure.

Stop doing it by hand
