Not everything that moves your position on Google Maps happens on your profile. How people interact with your listing, once they see it, also tells Google something about how good an answer you were to what they were looking for.

What behaviour signals are
Click-to-call, direction requests, website clicks and how long someone spends looking at your listing before deciding. They are data Google observes after showing you in a result.
Why Google cares about them
If people click your listing and then act — call, request directions, visit your site — that is a signal you were a good answer to that search. If you appear and nobody interacts, the signal is the opposite.
How to improve these signals indirectly
- A strong cover photo that makes people want to click.
- A clear category and description, so whoever clicks finds what they were looking for.
- Visible recent reviews, reinforcing the decision to contact you.
- A working call button and website, with no friction to act.
What you cannot force
There is no legitimate way to simulate clicks or fake calls to inflate this signal. Google detects artificial patterns, and the risk of a suspension is not worth any short-term benefit.

A complete profile with good reviews and clear content does not only improve relevance and prominence directly: it also generates more real interaction, which in turn reinforces those same signals. It all feeds back.
